Middle School Girls Group
What Is It?
Group is a safe, confidential processing group for teen boys. Teens from all over DMV get together weekly to help each other feel connected, strengthen belonging and work through stressors. We cover a wide range of teen-related topics and provide a safe space for them to discuss their experiences while receiving peer and clinician support.
When Is It?
Mondays from 4-5PM
Who Is In It?
Middle School Girls 6th-8th grade
Strategies Include:
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy: utilized to manage the irrational thought patterns that often plaque teens with negative thoughts and poor self esteem
Mindfulness: to teach calming the nervous system and focusing the mind and exploring application across various environments (home, school, sports, etc)
Stress Tolerance: to teach teens how to manage uncomfortable feelings rather than run away from them or engage in unhealthy coping behaviors
Nutrition: Group offers small snacks to help normalize eating and fuel the body while in group
Explore Teen Experiences: body image, bullying/peer conflicts, peer pressures, academics ~Psycho-education: to learn accurate information about harmful behaviors like vaping, Self Harm, Disordered eating, the nervous system, Attention Deficit Disorder and more
Family Systems: group provides a confidential space to process difficulties families face as well as the stress of their “family of friends”. This includes the school system
Art Therapy: sprinkled in, we have fun with crafts! It is a great way to explore feelings with talking
