Improving your life

Project SAFE opened its doors in 2003 with the purpose of empowering individuals and families to identify best choices for healthy functioning. Through a variety of tools, clients learn successful problem solving strategies identified during counseling sessions. Clients experience improved mental health in their social, academic, work and family environments.  We are conveniently located in south Old Town at 665 S. Washington Street. We offer individual therapy, group therapy and family therapy.

FAQs

  • No, we do not accept any insurance. However, with a proper diagnosis you can submit a Super Bill which is emailed directly to you that has all the needed information on it for you to submit to your insurance company.

  • A Licensed Resident Counselor (LRC) is a clinician who is graduated with a masters in clinical mental health and is working under clinical supervision for licensure with the Commonwealth of Virginia. Virginia requires 4,000 supervised hours in order to become fully licensed. Residents are gradated and working under clinical supervision.

  • YES. Without 48 hour cancelation notification, you will be charged the entire session fee. This time has been made exclusively for you and your clinician. However, if you are sick this fee is waived as long as you let us know as soon as you can.

  • Do parents get information about their child’s session? Each client has a right to privacy. Your information is not shared with anyone unless there is a safety or danger concern. Your child also needs to feel that their sessions are for them and kept private. This confidentiality will not be kept if safety or danger concerns arise. Parents can request an update on the therapeutic process by joining.

We are located on the NW side of Washington Street and Franklin, in the Washington Square complex between Franklin St and Gibbon. Go into the courtyard and up the stairs to suite 665. Street parking is available. Parking on Washington Street going south is okay, EXCEPT from 4-6 when this lane becomes an HOV lane.
